Why is it that most of the TV chefs nowadays tend to be men? Years ago, it used to be women. Maybe its just a fad..

Rachael Ray is a female celeb chef! That being said.....

Women cook because it is a domestic duty they primarily carry out.

Men who cook do it because they love creating with food and make it a paying career. The male chefs do it because it is their passion, not their domestic duty, and become celebrities because of their creative passion for it.

Not all women who cook are great at it, they just do it because they more or less have to.

Unlike another answer in here, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH men "taking over" jobs and making more money. Get over it! It's not a sexist conspiracy.

Maybe the TV stations worked out that male chefs attract more viewers! I assume that a lot of the audience for the cooking shows are women, so that might be why :)

Interesting observation you've made there.

I think that it is pretty much split down the middle between men and women being TV chefs. I think the women made it popular and the men just followed suit. There are a lot of men out there that love to cook. I just wish my husband was one of them. LOL

I think that it's always been men who make up the majority of chefs. Besides, chicks dig men who cook! It's mostly women who watch those types of shows anyway. The only woman chef/cook I can remember from back in the day is Julia Child.

Lots of good answers, passion, domestic duties, etc. Personally I think it is because the target audience is female therefor the personalities are (for the most part) good looking men. ie: Tyler Florence, Bobby Flay, etc.

Have you noticed wherever there's money to be made, all of a sudden it becomes a male domain. Typists used to be male until they found out they could earn more being the boss. The other day I say a man giving advice on how to iron!!!
