There was a serious miscommunication of dates and I missed my best friend's party. He's really mad at me, what can I do to make it up?

This happended to mewell something similar the only thing you cn do is apologise and explan if he does not listen to you you will have to wait until he is ready to face it after you say your sorry there is nothing else you can do.
Trust me it takes time. I'm sorry and I will hope and pray everything works out.

Well, if miss your best friend's party then need to talk and work it out and have another party to promise to be there but if not then still to discuss each other to work it out well and process each other so your friend will agree with you.

buy him a birthday present and bring it to school and give it to him in front of everyone and apologise, there is no way that he can stay mad at you after he opens the present and you explain what happened, if he was a real friend he wouldn't stay mad at you for such a simple thing as a party

Tell him to suck it up and get over it. I hate to see men wimp out. So you missed the party.... Are you there for him when he really needs a friend / help / or assistance - that's when you know you've got a friend.
