8 to 12 hours of labor for a competent shop. The Sable and Taurus are twins under the skin, an engine swap between them is a bolt-in job.

It depends on the shop, but usually it cost around $800-$1000 in labor , They wanted $800 in labor just to swap motors in my ranger, thats not including cost of motor, fluids, machining, gaskets, etc.Labor costs vary from 40 to 80 dollars an hour and a swap usually will take about 10 hours to complete.

Depending on where you are........most small repair shops charge anywhere from $350.00 to $500.00 to do the swap. If you get an engine from a salvage yard it will also cost from $350.00 to $500.00, a remanufactured engine from an auto parts store will cost somewhere near $1200.00 and a new engine from a Ford dealer will cost about $2500.00.
