elasticity is the property of a material to stretch, or deform, without permanently deforming or fracturing. Steel is a farily elastic metal but compared to plastics, etc is not elastic. Nylon is a polymer, as are plastics. However, there is one class of polymers called elastomers because they are highly elastic. Elastomers include rubber and silicone. Silicones (not silicon) are epoxy like in that there are 2 parts that are mixed and allowed to cure. Some silicones can be strectch to many times their initial length and they will return to the original shape without permanent deformation or fracture (breaking).
