"We gave it all our best....110%....but we've got a good feeling for next season already. You just roll with the punches......"
My dad used to write for the sports section of our local newspaper, and after a decade, he was burnt out. There's just so many ways you can write about a game, a team, etc.

the most silly one is theres no question about it. if one team would beat the other team 100% of the time, whats the point of hosting the damn game in the first place. and i always remember the joe buck commercial, " SWING AND A MISS" ROFL when all those fans were pressing their ears to his throat. and the infamous 9th inning cliche tying/winning run is 90 feet away.. well they are actually like 87/88 feet since they dont stand on the base but whatever. these are the most obvious and silly cliches i could think of.

"He's got a chance to be really special."If a player makes it to the major league of any sport,of course he is at the top of the skill levels. If he isn't,then why doesn't someone say,"Boy this guy is going to suck up the place"?
Also, why is it that in baseball when someone gets a hit after going 0 for 20,he has instantly broken out of his slump? What if he doesn't get a hit again for another 10 or 15 at-bats?

Yeah, "he's due" bothers me, but you know what drives me crazy? Teams playing the underdog card, especially in the playoffs. St Louis: "No one expects us to win. We are the underdogs! We are supposed to lose"... BLAH BLAH BLAH. In professional sports, anyone can beat anyone else on any given day. There are teams that are better than each other, but this underdog stuff, especially in a seven game playoff series consisting of the best teams in the bigs, is just a load of crap. I don't watch a lot of baseball, but I'm not sure what you mean about pointing to the sky. I've only seen players do that on home runs (except sammy sosa).

Im sick of everyone saying the Yanks are good because they get paid so much. There are plenty of other players in Baseball that get paid just as much or more. The whole team gets paid because a happy team is the best team. They are smart for paying them top dollar! All you non-Yankee fans are just jealous because were the best. Leave the Yankees alone! We will always be #1 no matter what! Get over it.
PS Mets SUCK!

"We left it all on the field."
Really, because if you left it "all" on the field, wouldn't there have to be a group of people come and carry the team to the locker room, because they wouldn't have the energy to walk?
