It takes so long to do but it is an art. The overseas labor can do it for so cheap it ruins the art of making it yourself. Is it worth it to make alot of items and go to craft shows and try to sell it?

Doing custom pieces may be a big selling point, especially if you can design pieces from a photograph or whatever. I've seen several artists create custom pieces in glass based on a client's drawing or photograph.

Also, offering to do stained glass restoration can help increase your client base and generate good word of mouth.

I does not take long if you have the proper method. Pattern paper is a very slow way to do your work. I sell lots of things and the overseas labour does not in any way effect my work. You can see the difference between crap and something that you took the time to make. The stuff from overseas usually is "you get what you pay for" I can't tell you how many of this things I have repaired because they are thrown together. Your best option is to make something simple. Angels, Fairies, suncatchers are all very popular as well as hummingbirds. You can join this free stained glass group to get more tips see link below as for craft shows make a lot of small popular items, people will scoop up alot of low priced items before they will spend alot of money. If they are interested in larger work take a portforlio with you to the shows, you might score some orders when the show is done!

Making stained glass is an art that I hope never gets lost. If you choose carefully which craft shows to set up a booth in or where you sell it, yes it is worth going to the craft shows and trying to sell it. You could also try to set up an on line website. Check out the market for it before trying it. Good luck!

If you feel that it is worth saling then do so. It is not what is quality but personilized work that is unqunic to you. Most people will see that and word of mouth might spread. It is worth a shot. If you art is good, then you won't worry. Don't worry about the big corps, cause some people who want stain glass wants something no one has.

It depends on how you're going about it. It sounds like you are doing original creations, and not the out-of-the-box WalMart kit, lol. That works in your favor - I wouldn't sell exclusively at craft shows. Look for higher-end boutiques and furniture stores in your area who'd either purchase or sell your works, or even sell on the internet. It's all in how you market yourself - emphasize the handmade, one-of-a-kind aspect - and I suspect you'll find a market. Also, if you offer to do custom work, I'd bet you'd find a lot of willing consumers.

If you want to make a profit, yes you could sell it. But other then that , you could put it in a art show, and see if you get any GOOD offers. But other then that, wait till a buyer comes to you, and you not to a buyer.
