Web design business is very competitive and there is not a lot of profit in it. You could register on guru, freelance etc.

There are a lot of ways to do that.
First I'd get my own site up and running showing examples of all the work you have done, a resume, and contact info. Once that's all set you can either work with an agent, (The Creative Group, Creative Circle, etc), or you can surf the usual job sites, (Monster.com, Career Builder, etc). A lot of companies are going after freelancers because it puts less of a financial strain on them. Just make sure you have yourself covered. Read ALL contracts and get advice if you aren't sure about legal jargon. Also, if you have a family, do you have a plan for health insurance? And lastly, cover your butt when it comes to Uncle Sam. Talk to people you know who free lance and ask them how they deal with good ole tax day. You can even ask them for advice on how to get into free lancing. And one more thing I forgot to mention, you can network....join a professional group like SIGGRAPH or AIGA....they are great places to network...kind of expensive to join, unless you're a student. Hope that helps!
