I want it to play in 720p because thats ehat work of tv i have. Can i play lue ray disks on the ps3 in 720p?

you can play them, but it will look the best it possibly can in 1080p. You arn't going to get the best high deff you could get with 1080p. picture on 720p. If you are going to upgrade your TV, I recomend getting a Samsung 1080p HDTV. I have one, and my PS3 looks great on it, and the blu ray is fanominal!

Yeah you can, it only means that blu ray can support up TO 1080p.
It should supports 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. If your not sure then try it out. But High Definition starts at 720p and goes up from there.

you can play the dvd with any tv. i have a regular tv and ps3, blu ray dvds, it works fine. but with the HDTV it just has a better qualitiy image
