I have two pregnant gguppies, and one of them looked pretty big. I thought she would get even bigger, so I didn't put her in the breeding net yet because I didn't want her to get stressed from being in a small area. This morning I looked at her and, I think, she looks a bit smaller, and her gravid spot is red? I don't see any babies. Did they get eaten? What should I do?? She is in there with one other female, and three males. I guess I should've put her in the breeding net..or put some floating plants for the babies to hide in? HELP

my guppy just dropped her first bit o' babies just yesterday and it actually took me a long time to be able to see them. they are sooo tiny and pretty clear! i have a heavily planted aquarium, so they can hide among roots and leaves and whatnot, but they tend to hover about half a centimeter above the sand and they dart around like crazy.
the adult guppies have already started to eat some of them, but the majority are still hiding pretty well. i've been dropping in powdered flake food for them a few times a day.
anyway, your female might continue to drop more babies every 3-4 weeks from what i understand, and the babies take awhile of growing before they're big enough not to be eaten by the adults.

also, you might want to change the female/male ratio in the tank you have. from what i understand, you want to have more females than males because the males are ALWAYS trying to mate with the ladies, and the more ladies you have, the more they can spread the constant chasing between them, so you'll have less stressed out guppy girls.

i'm not sure about the red gravid spot. none of mine have that and there definitely was a birthing. i only see dark gravid spots all around.

hope some of that was helpful!

My bet would be that she had her babies and she and the other adults ate them. You might want to add in some extra plants for the babies to hide in from the other female or try to get her in the breeder net a few days before you think she will have the babies. It is really hard to tell for sure and easy to accidentaly leave them in the tank too long.

Yes, they must have got ate by your 3 male guppies or the other females, not the mother. Next time try to get her into a breeding trap or get some floating plants to hide in. The red spot might mean she already gave birth.

it means she has already given birth if you have another tank put her in there just in case but guppies can have 5 litters from 1 mating time so look out and i think the other fish must of ate the babies sorry.

If it were me, I would immeditaley put her in the net in case she has more. An most likely they've been eaten with a few hiding in whatever structures you might have in the tank.

for sure you feed her, except you want to starve her to lack of life you'll see even if, that she will be in a position to both devour a lot less or no longer something in simple terms formerly she provides start even if wish that facilitates strong success EB
