Once a year, at Christmas, I get my favorite date-nut pinwheels. I loved them as a boy, and my mother made them once a year.

For years after I grew up, my mother made them, boxed them up, and sent them to me at Christmas, wherever I was.

Before Mom died, she sat up at 4am one morning and hand-wrote the recipe onto a little index card, which I still have. She noted the time and date, and she wrote, "Someone else will have to make these for you now."

Now my wife makes them for me at Christmastime, and yes, I still like to have milk with them.

Homemade oatmeal-raisin cookies fresh from the oven. I drink them with milk, but I don't dunk them. And, yes, Oreos dunked in milk. And this will sound weird, but I like to dunk Vanilla Wafers in Orange Juice.

The Girl Scout cookies "Tagalongs." Those are the chocolate covered peanut butter patties. No milk though - I don't like it.
