I am not Irish but I firmly believe there is a bit of I*rish in all of us. We all wear something green and I made a cake with a green icing and had shamrock pictures on the wall.

I remember the legends I have heard and read about St. Patrick. I try and imagine how it was in those times. I also think about the attempted genocide by the British in Catholic Ireland, the Irish curse and all of my Irish ancestors who struggled to get to America in the 1900's to escape the potatoe famine. The British had the Irish tending to the British cattle at that time but the Irish were not allowed to eat the cattle, even while starving. I celebrate St. Patricks day rejoicing in my life and in deepest gratitude to all of my ancestors who came over on the boat to America. I also wonder if I would have been part of the IRA had I been brought up in Ireland and would I be alive today.

well my community is one of the only towns in the nation that over 50% of the population is 100% irish. On St. Patricks day we have a big St. Patricks day party at the church hall. We usually have the Irish dancers come and we have bagpipers come and everything. It's pretty much a big deal around here

Go to Chruch. It is a Holy day of Obligation.(if your Catholic) Spend time with your friends and family and reflect on all the good n your life. It is not about drinking, thats an American tradition not an Irish one.
