My favorite war is the Trojan War said to have occurred 1194-1184BCE. I have 3 movie versions made in 1956, 2003 and 2004. All of them take liberties with the story. I suppose I'll go for the original "Helen of Troy"(1956) as slightly best of the 3.

Saving Private Ryan. There are several good war books too like Death Traps by Belton Y. Cooper, Woodbine Red Leader by George Loving, The Deadly Brotherhood by John C. Mcmanus, Beyond Glory by Larry Smith. i would check them out. they're my favorite war books.

1980's "World War III" Russia facing a disaster from a grain embargo invades alaska and threatens to blow up the pipe line if the embargo isnt lifted.
A small undermaned, under armed, disorganized national guard unit and a un ready colonel are all that stand in their way. It goes as far as nuclear war in the end.
