Probally because he was already filming 4 other movies at the time ('Chaos', 'Vic', 'Moscow Zero' and 'Oliviero Rising). That didn't leave much time for him to participate in his father's movie, which seemed to have been put together rather quickly.

some say he wasn't asked
some say he was too busy
some say that he wasn't speaking to his father
there are many spectulative answers for this question. I don't think anyone but sage or sly really know the real reason
