I remember seeing a story on television about a little girl in Texas who had an ocelot as a pet. The ocelot loved her and slept in bed with her. The Texas Wildlife Authority wanted to confiscate the ocelot because it's against the law to have wild pets (as it should be), but they made an exception because of how domesticated this particular ocelot was. Do you know anyone with a wild pet? I knew a friend in NYC (a lawyer, yet!) who had a domesticated Gray Wolf who thought he was a dog.

There was another New York City idiot who had imported a Canadian Lynx when the creature was very young and kept it in an apartment down city for two years. He was compelled to surrender the creature to my neighbor, who is licensed to keep and care for such creatures.

It had never been out of doors in its entire life. When placed in my neighbor Sue's pen, it felt grass under its paws for the first time in its life - and it freaked the poor critter.

The cat had also never interacted with other humans in the absence of its owner in NYC - he had come to our town with the cat to make the transition easier for the creature. The cat was quite calm and explored its new home casually and liesurely, as if it'd been there forever. When he left, the cat didn't react at once - but when it realised he was gone, it REALLY freaked! It had had it's fangs removed and had been de-clawed, but it still just about tore its new keeper a new a s s h o l e !!
The cat eventually did settle down -it took several months - but the only person it had ever permitted to pet it was the guy from NYC - and that remained true for the rest of the cat's life. It was NOT a good thing this guy did, to take in this cat. Ocelots, lynxes, bobcats - these are NOT meant to be domestic pets, and my personal opinion of people who attempt it is that they should be stuffed in cages themselves and paraded in a freak show atmosphere from time to time to let them know what it's like for the four-footed creatures they do it to!

Well, I have a lot of wild pets. My uncle runs a wildlife sanctuary for animals that have been pets but can't go back to the wild because they're too old. They all still need to be treated kinda like pets, so they are almost my pets. Theres 2 wolves, a porcupine, a de-scented skunk from an abuse home, some baby sqirrels, a bear, a mountain lion, other assorted animals, and a really old moose thats probably going to die soon.
