My turtle was missing for 12 days and when I found it I immediately placed it back in it's clean, filtered tank with a good quality UV lamp. Within 24 hours it resumed it's activity be eating well & basking. The problem is the scales on shell have started to lift from being dried & w/o H2o for such a long time. Should I apply Hydrogine Peroxide & soak it in a sulfer bath before applying a conditioning cream? What would be suggested? What is the recovery time & what will I be looking for that will confirm the suggested treatment is working?

As long as the other cares and diet are good, the shell sill recover on its own with no special work from you.

The turtle's shell itself does not really need water all the time and will not suffer long-term affects from being dry for a week. The turtle itself is probably dehydrated and hungry- and as it gets better, the shell will look nicer too.

I never heard of that type of treatment. I would just let him in the water for awhile. I think your turtle will be ok. sorry I could not be of more help. I tried though! good luck. also try calling a local vet and ask them they would know!

don't do anything for it, it will be fine, it will shed the dead scales and new healthy ones will be underneath. Just leave it alone and it will heal itself
