we are americans we should not let people come in our country if they are not willing to learn our culture, language, and pay taxes to the government like we do if we went over to another country we would have to learn their culture, language and pay taxes to thier government. we should treat them the same way.

We should *control* the borders much better, but not *close* them. We need to decide who comes into this country; it shouldn't just be a free-for all.

We also need to remember that America is a nation of immigrants, and by accepting immigrants who are willing to work hard for the American Dream we get the "best and brightest" from other countries.

We also should remember that throughout our history, every group of immigrants, including the Irish, Germans, Italians, Jews, etc., were criticized as low-class and bad for the country by the people who were already here. And, within a couple of generations, each group made their transition into the melting pot that is the USA. Today the grandchildren of the immigrants of the last century are among the leaders of our business, politics, culture, etc.

Same thing will happen with the Latino and Asian immigrants of today. Like their predecessors, they may be poor now, but they're hard-working and motivated.

Yes the borders should be closed but I dont think a fence will work all ports should be checked before any off loading of cargo.Have anyone been to columbus ohio the west side is all illegal immigrants we moved out of there 5 years ago I felt like we was the foreigners there and we was born here most places are over run with illegal immigrants apartment complex there is now all illegal immigrants no white or black people there. beer bottles all over cops dont enter the complex the local flea market is over ran the mall is mexican stores where is this going to stop they are not all legal its time we take back our country instead of giving it to them kids in school must learn spanish WHY isnt this america dont we speak english if you come to our country legal or illilgal you should speak english why do my kids have to learn spanish I dont speak it if they speak spanish I can not understand themThey set up there little taco stands eveywhere in columbus ohio take over the stores and flea markets but they dont pay taxs but if i dont i go to jail and lose everthing that I ahve worked so hard to get no helth inspectors check the little taco stand but they will be at a fast food place fast this is my 2 cents worth if its worth 2 cents BUT ISNT IT TIME WE BACK BACK OUR COUNTRY.

Yes, a 50 foot high electric fence guarded by rednecks armed with sawed-off shotguns and rewarded with a twelve-pack of Budweiser beer for blasting the brains out of anyone who attempts to dig under it, ought to effectively keep "them" out and "us" in. The fence would run the length of the entire Mexican and Canadian Borders, as well as surrounding Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. It would cost an estimated
$9.5 trillion.......but would be worth every penny!

absolutely...bring all military home and use them to keep our borders safe. Take this nation into isolation for a little and let the world see how much they need us. Maybe then they will take a new tone to what we want from them.

Plus, it keeps crime down (almost 60% of California prisoners are illegal immigrants) and resources can be used more wisely to root possible sleeper cells out of the U.S. and to get rid of the illegal immigrants. Time to make the people in jail work for their keep and not just sit around all day.

Bush thinks that because we are scuffling with terrorists in Iraq, they received't come right here. Or a minimum of that's what he tells us. i imagine that idea has been shown incorrect. He would not close the borders because he likes vast corporation and unlawful immigrants more beneficial useful than he likes human beings. a minimum of, that's particular what apparently like.

I think he should SECURE the borders, and that family based immigration should be limited to only spouses and minor children, to free up visas for immigrants who would benefit the country by being here. We also need that mandated visa EXIT tracking system in place, don't lose sight of that. Homeland Security is trying to get the deadline extended yet again.

I personally don't care, I am at that age that those that voted for Obama, my medical expenses are so damned high, I of course are paying for the lazy azzes that won't work. I would like to see more and more illegals come in...somehow hoping, just HOPING it does financial burdens to those that voted for O. The young does not care for the older people, so the hell with this younger generation, just wished I lived long to hopefully see the damage O left them to struggle with, you don't like my answer, could care less about that also.

If by closing the borders, you mean protecting our ports and scanning ALL containers entering our country-yes
If you mean wasting millions on a fence- no
If people are willing to cross a desert to come to America, a fence won't dissuade them.

Yes I think he should close the borders. We need to keep you americans out of Canada. We are sick and tired of you telling us how to live our lives and telling us what to do. There are heaps of other countries who will buy our oil.
