Found a fake £1 coin with the rest of mine when I Was looking at all the designs. Its a scottish rampant lion one with 'DECUS ET TUTAMEN' stamped poorly and off centered round the side (the wrong writing as well should say 'NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT'). Its heavier and also the head side is stamped on off center. What do I do with it?

Take it to a coin dealer. See if it is really fake or if it is a mis-stamped coin.

It may be valuable. Counterfeiters don't usually counterfeit coins so it might be one that was stamped wrong during the minting process and could be valuable.

I'd take it to a couple of different coin dealers and have it checked out.

I would say hold on to it. There is a good chance that it is a mistake. If so its probably valuable. I would do a little research though before going to an appraiser. If you don't know them they could tell you a lower price and rip you off. Try looking on ebay for something similar.

Cut it up.it's made of lead and sprayed with 'gold' paint.
Seen hundreds of them in my working life and can recognise them without looking at them.

Counterfeiters don't fake coins? Where have you been for the last 20 years?
I worked in the industry and the incidence of coin being faked was enormous!
As for the one who said take it back to the Post Office or Bank, why give them the responsibility?
