Laughing at your own jokes is like saying "I'm so funny, I even make myself laugh!" It's silly. It just looks silly. And people will think you're self-centred. If you tell a bad joke and no one but you laughs at it, they'll think you just have a really bad sense of humour. And when you're ready to tell a joke again, they just groan and say "not again." If you're really good at telling jokes, you can keep a straight face, in my opinion.
