I'm a nursing mother and I have a dime size dry looking reddish spot on my areola below my nipple. The spot itself is not painful, but my entire breast is itchy. I was put on cream (Clotrimazole) by my doctor on Monday and was told to put it on 2x a day and I have. This morning the itching is unbearable. He didn't say what he thought it was. Any ideas, please help! The spot has been there for almost 2 weeks now. My son has been checked for thrush and there was nothing in his mouth. I have also tried Acidophilius supplements. This is getting quite uncomfortable and a bit embarrassing.

it may be because your baby is breast feeding it could be keeping it irritated and unable to heal try using the other breast and only pumping milk from the irritated one
