He maintains that he is a Christian. I have heard the LA times reported that he was a Muslim as a child and went to prayers in Mosque's. The obama camp is for obvious reasons are denying the reports from one of the most left wing papers in the country. Bill taught them all well. It doesn't matter what evidence is out there, deny deny deny.

I believe he is pro America. This stuff about Obama and Muslims has reached the outer reaches of absurdity. His father was a Muslim. He wasn't an extremist. He abandoned his family when Obama was young, and has had virtually no involvement with his family since that time. It's kind of like arguing since his father (who abandoned him when he was small) drank occasionally, Obama might be soft on drunk drivers.

Conservatives may have real disagreements regarding his stand on issues, but bringing up this Muslim nonsense to somehow argue Obama has a soft spot in his heart for terrorists is ludicrous. It also indicates that since they can't actually debate effectively on the issues with him, they'll float out some absurd garbage. It is the typical political strategy of those with a Rove mindset.

Unbelievable some of the answers you have gotten. Most of you clearly have no clue what true Islam is. You are an embarrassment to this country and its education system.

Does it matter if he is pro Muslim? There is nothing wrong with being a Muslim. He does not have to be PRO anything. He is an American and that is all that should matter.

It would be nice if the people who say his father is a Muslim and possibly a terrorist would do some basic research. (see citation below-I picked wikipedia on purpose because it is not a pro-Obama site).

Barak Obama's parents met in college; his father was from Kenya, his mother from Kansas. They divorced when Barak was very young, and his father eventually moved back to Africa, where he died when Barak was 21.

Barak's mother then married an Indonesian, and they moved to that country where Barak attended a PUBLIC SCHOOL-this came out on the news, they even showed the school, for heaven's sake! Please kindly read all of Footnote 10 for the full story on this.

When he was 10, Barak moved to Hawaii, where he lived with his grandparents. You can find out a lot more about him, including the fact that he did use drugs as a teenager, if you read his book Dreams From My Father
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreams_from_My_Father.

He is a member of the United Church of Christ, and, like most liberals, is pro PEOPLE-which means he feels everyone should be able to get a fair shake in life.

As for religion, here's a quote from the article:
Obama has encouraged Democrats to reach out to evangelicals and other religious people, saying, "if we truly hope to speak to people where they’re at–to communicate our hopes and values in a way that’s relevant to their own–we cannot abandon the field of religious discourse.

I can't believe all these right wing nuts believe everything that comes out of the republican machine. Do some real research, children, and stop listening to Fox, okay? He was a child, under parental control, and went to a school that taught some beliefs, much as Christian school teach theirs, and baptist teach theirs, etc, etc. His father is Not any kind of extremest, He goes to Church, and has chosen his religion. Grow up, children. Or are you going to hold his name against him too? After all, W's middle name is Walker, just like the liquor...So that makes him a Drunk??

I've heard his father is a muslim extremist. Don't know how true it is, but with all the terrorism in this world, can we even take a chance on a leader that we would have to ASK that about??
