Does anyone know why my internet speed is so low?

I've just connected to a mate's orange livebox through cable. Currently there are 3 cable users and one wireless user. The problem is that it has not only slowed my net but also my whole computer.

Don't you mean so Slow versus "so low"? Otherwise, if it is really low, then try picking it up off the floor to get it higher ;). Possible problem could be your mates's computer has given your computer a virus or is infected with a zombie spam and is sending out spams to the world and is also broadcasting to your computer with hacks. Disconnect them and if your computer is still ssslow then clean it with anti-virus and anti-spyware.

Your internet or broadband speed is slow because you and your friends are sharing the services of your ISP.Broadband speed has got nothing to do with sudden change of your computer - carry some basic routine on your syytem by running virus scan,removing temporary files,defragment etc.If you do not know how to do this things write back for further details

I dont think the low speed are caused by the 3 cable users and one wireless user...
Maybe your have spyware problem..

Scan for malware, usually a problem when your on the net, and check with you ISP (Internet Service provider) they may find a fault with the line etc!

I think you computer is having virus or spy ware. Try to scan virus and spy ware. I you don't have you try to download the software's from www.download.com.

There you search the software's through the wizard.

It could be the anti- spy ware that you are using when i was using Norton it made the computer very slow.
