Credit cards are miserable sources of debt and if you find yourself out of work or disabled and can't pay your debts, it ruins your credit no matter how good you were up to the point you could no longer pay...
I paid on my credit cards for 23 years, which is how long I was working and healthy...
I was condemned for going through bankruptcy and
for the next 10 years with a bad credit rating...

All the other answers plus they are very easy to get. You'll get applications for one almost every day, and if you reply very soon you can find yourself with eight to ten credit cards.
