All fo us come from (est.) 8 people, from that we ahve spread out and aroudn the globe, if you mean peoples who have lived in a similar area for all that time then the asnwer below is correct:
It was probbaly peoples with a similar appearance to africans, since that was where most of human evolution occoured. other groups then spread north and south, faced different obsitigals and challenges and variations occoured.
since we eveolved in the area around the Great Rift Valley one wouyld expect peoples living near there today (would have to also look at population movements) to be of the direct decendets.

No body knows it, I believe by races you mean grouping of humans based on some traits like colour of skin, physical attributes, language, custom etc. I think this is all man made division, artificial and humans cannot be divided into smaller groups on this basis. All humans come from the same species. I believe different physical attributes is the manifestation of diverse environmental conditions in which humans lived in different parts of the globe and evolved. This environmental conditioning would have also affected micro level genetic differences to develop survival “response mechanism” under similar hostile or friendly conditions on the lines of, “Darwin’s Truth” that I prefer to call it as, survival of the fittest and evolution through natural selection. We see this happening naturally in different species today in the wild or around us, the weak offspring of animals and birds hardly survive to adult hood and its parents knows it quite well. This must have been the situation in humans too before Neogene period (11,000 years B.P.) when he existed almost like an animal existence “the belongingness was to no one”– a life of hunter and food gatherer. Post Neogene environmental conditions forced him to form small groups and changed his habitat from arboreal to land and these small groups changed into clans with ownership rights – the beginning of civilization down the time line. This protection resulted into segregation and ownership, the ownership rights resulted in selective mating like inbreeding. This was the dawn of like and alike traits, customs and heritage etc. that we see today.
Today no one can say that he is the descendant of the earliest race on earth, I think so. Even some genome mapping differences in human fossils and modern man, if ever available would not be able to group humans into different artificial racial groups, I am sure of it, the racial grouping is our making.

Neanderthals were an evolutionary branch of human that was extinct 24,000 years (ish) before we homosapiens showed up.
So easy, even a caveman can do it...
