Well, I am trying to make two items, say for example, a square on the left and a square on the right move together to the centre of the screen.

Is this possible with PowerPoint ?

So close

Both the answers below almost have if.
What you need to do is the following.

Chose one of the two images
Right hand click it
Click Custom animation
Perform the animation you want

Now do the same to the second image

You will notice on the ride hand panel you have two command running and both will only run when you click twice. Lets change that.

Click in the command bar (to the right) the second command image. Click the small down arrow and select timing.

Under the timing start option click the down arrow and change the option to start with previous.

And you are done. Both images will move / custom animate at the same time.

You will need to use motion paths to make the objects move but the principle is the same. You need to tell powerpoint to move both image the same by telling the timer to run both at the same time.

Please email me for further help. I respond within the hour.

Hi dear!
I read your Question. What an easy question. and now your answer:
1)Draw your shapes.
2) right click one of them and choose custom animation.
3)In right menu on screen click the button "Add Effect".
4)choose "motion paths".
5)choose "left" or "right".
6)then a line with an arrow on it would be created on your shape. you can also edit this line by clicking and draging it.
7)for othe shape do this but in level 5 choose the opposit direction.
8)if wanna them move simultaneously you can choose together and do this levels and modify one line for one object to oposit direction.

If any question yet, leave your message for me.

there is something called "motion path" in your custom animation toolbar - where you can provide path for your icons to move simultaneously

That's a very interesting tool indeed and I love working on it. YES, it is possinle to move your two items simultaneously using this command.
