Is the bass guitar a fun instrument to play(friend need answers) and if you have one what one which guitar is best for beginners? Prefered Prices 150.00-250.00

The bass is a great instrument to play. In my opinion,it's the best job in rock and roll-you may not have the glamour of a lead singer but you can have just as much fun.
Fender, Epiphone and Ibanez make Value packs,that is, bass and bass amp packages that are a good buy and starting point for beginners.
Your friend needs to think about the scale(length) and width of the neck of a bass. The scale is longer than a guitar and it varies among basses. For instance,the Fender bass(which ,by the way, was the first electric bass) has a longer scale than a Gibson(Epiphone) and the Ibanez has a skinny neck.
What this means is ,the size of a players hands and the reach of his arms have a lot to do with the bass he chooses.
Your local music store should have no problem with letting you size things up.

uh..no guitar is fun to learn you got to have Patience and a high tolerance for pain on the tips of you're fingers you gotta keep at it or you wont be any good as far as price range well go to a used place like a pawn shop or something you might not even pay that much and you may actually have enough money left over to buy some picks extra strings just in case and a how to book,some sheet music maybe.....

yea its fun to play. you have to have a tolerance for not wanting to play the melody, but you get to play grooves and melodic licks that tie everything together. I would reccomend an esp b-50 for a starter bass. Fender is not a choice of mine, they are way to treble heavy.

Get the Fender Jazz it's fun and has a really nice sound to it.
