Can anyone tell me which blower is better a 177 or a 471 super charger. As I want to put one on my new 350 chev crate motor i WON'T be using too much boost as the engine does not have too many goodies ( 8.5 comp , 4 bolt mains etc )
Any advise would be appreciated.

find out the capabilities of these chargers. the 471 is familiar to me. the 471, 671 and 871 are superchargers similiar to the blowers on a detroit diesel engine from the 71 series. the 4,6 and 8 depict the number of cylinders and the 71 is the cubic inches in each one. so goes the 693 series as well. the 93 series had a blower and a turbo . as far as your engine is concerned, start at the top with your objective as it affects all of the engine and its components. how much hp do u want? or is it for looks? r u racing? then see if the 471 will meet ur needs.this one is the coolest looking I think.also keep in mind that stock pistons are not designed for boosted compression. forged pistons are better. find out what ur engine has.also ur rods, may need to be upgraded if ur intend to push ur engine. u sure don't want to sling a rod first time u nail it.good luck
