I just recently learned some tips in my cognitive psych class. A good way to remember the info you're studying is to try to recall it. For example, if you have read a chapter and there are review questions or something like that, try to recall the answer to the question before you go look it up. It sounds simple, but even if you don't remember the answer and you have to look it up, it will help the info stick in your mind. If you don't have questions in the chapter, make some up and answer them.

If you are trying to memorize definitions of words, associate the word with an image in your mind. The example my book gives is the word "proactive interference" (old information interferes with learning new information.) The author thought of a "PRO" football player smashing through everything in his path to get to the end zone.

And I'm sure you've heard this one before, but take breaks! After about an hour and a half of studying, your memory's efficiency deteriorates. Take ten minutes to walk the dog or get a snack or do some stretches and come back refreshed. It really helps!

Take notes and study hard. Ask your parents to help you review.
