Paraplegia is a condition in which the lower part of a person's body is paralyzed and cannot willfully function. It is usually the result of spinal cord injury or a congenital condition such as spina bifida, but polyneuropathy may also result in paraplegia. If the arms are also paralyzed, quadriplegia is a more appropriate diagnosis.
Quadriplegia, also known as tetraplegia, is a symptom in which a human experiences paralysis of all four limbs, although not necessarily total paralysis.

Paraplegics and quadriplegics have nerve damage that keeps them from being able to perform basic motor skills. Paraplegics motor skills are limited in their lower extremities. Quadriplegics motor skills are limited from their neck/shoulders down. You are neither if you can walk, have some use of your arms, and pretty much do all the same things you did before because that's an obvious sign that you didn't sustain enough nerve damage to keep you from being mobile. Hope that helps!

My Mother-in-law is a paraplegic....it means loss of the use of your legs.
Quadriplegic (quad=4) means arms (2) & legs (2) (2+2=4...get it?).

Paraplegia means your disabled from the lower half of your body, quadriplegia means paralysis effects the top half too. Depends where the injury to the spinal cord is. Studying this and i can't even get away from it on here. But hope that answered your question.
