i had an accident in my bike. i had damaged my knee. the doctor said it is just a small ligament tear and advised me to wear knee cap. im wearing it for the past one week , though i can walk .. there is pain when i try to run . and everytime i try to get up after sitting or after sleep. its almost a month and i dont c any progress of healing. my question is whether it takes more time to heal when the injury is internal than external ?

First you should stop trying to run on it. You will keep reinjuring it and it will take even longer to heal.
Doing physical therapy when you seem to feel like it is in the healing stage. Biking should be a better way to exersize it and swimming if you are in a gym that has a pool,. stretching and I have been told any exercise that your feet are flat on the floor. No leg extensions ever, even when it is all healed. It does seem to be a long slow healing process on the knee and hopefully it would be healed at least in a month.

It may be more internal than external...
Everything takes time to heal, depending on the health of the individual...
Do you have access to a swimming pool...When I did this my doctor had me walk in the swimming pool, back and forth, briskly, and eventually it went away...Mine took over a month, too...
Good luck...

Mine took a year and surgery after 9 months...but mine was a medial meniscus tear.... It does seem to take more time when the injury is internal, especially on a joint line. Good luck!

Time for you to get an MRI done-could be something more than just a strain which should have healed by now.

Time for a second opinion buddy; a simple strain should be healed by now.
