Good for you, your Mother trained you right and your smart enought to know to do this. Of course women appreciate this, it is a wonderful gesture of respect. A lot of men have lost their manners....why...laziness...and not being trained well. Manners count no matter what...shows good upbringing and that never goes out of style!

I love it when a man holds the door open. The other day, I saw a couple getting out of their truck and the man walked around and opened the door. I only get that treatment when I am dressed for going out. I was raised that a gentleman always holds open the door. Now I live in a different state and I forget they don't do it her, and I get doors "dropped" on me. It sucks

I think women like men they are familiar with to do that, some seem to think it's a come-on if you don't know them, yet try look out for them anyhow. It's a case by case situation really, kind of touch and go. Women can be mysterious, and yes that can lead to an awkward situation. ("gee, I was just trying to be nice and she nearly spit at me")

Maybe some guys are tired of the ugly attitude they sometimes get for trying to be kind and just give up. Maybe some guys are lost in their own thoughts and don't recognize an opportunity to be a gentleman. Maybe some just are taught by their mother that women should be opening doors for them.

I think holding open doors is just general courtesy. If someone is behind you, holding the door open for them is simply the polite thing to do. It really has nothing to do with gender--men should hold open doors for women, but also for other men, and women should hold open doors for men, as well as other women.

I still do appreciate those gestures. I feel so lady like sometimes lol. Especially like when I really need help with something. Though sometimes depending on the situation, it feels awkward like when something fell.. I can easily pick them up by myself but there was this guy who rushed, as if too excited to pick it up for me. I appreciate the gesture but it still feels awkward. Keep it up! You're raised well.

it really is well mannered to grant someone a hand in the journey that they prefer it, no count number what your gender. perchance in case you understood that strong manners are about being effective to others frequently, somewhat than in simple terms in simple terms women individuals, you'd be a lot less cranky. If i'm attending to the door first, it really is well mannered for me to carry it for you. in case you do, it really is well mannered for you to carry it with me. once you're fumbling along with your keys, i am going to furnish to carry something. If i'm, you should. See? no longer hard. those are "the guidelines" for me, even if the different individual is male or woman, youthful or older, my buddy or no longer. I ask someone to carry my bag if i opt to take my coat off, placed something in the automobile, take something out of the automobile, get a operating start up to climb a tree or scale a wall. If i have in simple terms executed the grocery procuring and performance someone with me, i'd ask them to carry a bag so i visit convey them in in a unmarried holiday. it isn't a "oh detrimental me help me" element. it really is a "hi, this can make life more straightforward for a 2d" element. it isn't any different from me putting forward, "Please carry on, i have were given yet another call," fairly.

I hold a door if there is anyone coming through within a resonable period of time, I tend to push the door extra far with a burst so they catch it coming through... it's just general courtesy.

I appreciate little things like that, but if a guy doesn't hold the door for me it's no big deal. Maybe they just forget or think they'll look stupid doing it.
