Awful, isn't it? I think this trend will stop only when parents take back control of their kids. Sure, it can be unlearned and they'd better unlearn it if they want good jobs and want to communicate properly. And as far as the parents, some of them talk like that, too! "Where you at?" I *hate* that phrase! I hear adults saying it all the time. I'll shut up now, I could go on and on......

I know what you are saying, but slang while it may dwindle away some will always be there and then some other type of lingo will come up.
It's just the way generations happen and decades go - - there has always been "something" that is different and that society and parents don't agree about.
For instance, look at the 1950's, you had the "greasers". (jeans, white t-shirts, leather jackets, greased back hair). They weren't the norm.
We, who consider ourselves "normal" will just have to ride it out. It's just the way life goes.

Kids live what they learn, I sure hope slang is something they grow out of. I might be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that certain (slang) words have been added to dictionaries.. Please tell me i am wrong.. LOL

Every generation has it's own slang.
Most of us outgrow it once we find
ourselves.
We learn proper english so we can
fit in.
