Traditional conservatives are against govt. interference. These neo-cons running around today are in favor of govt. intrusion into our lives to "save" us from the terrorists.

They want the govt. to run and oversee every aspect of our lives

EDIT
Locutus:

If you think that this administration hasn't expanded govt. oversight farther than any before it, and acted without consent of either of the other two branches, you're kidding yourself.

Weren't you the same type of person who was crying why the government didn't do enough to prevent 9/11? Now that the government is doing something to prevent the next one you still cry? Make up your minds or come up with a better solution.

I believe that most Republicans like most other adults are not so self centered and conceited to think that uncle Sam is spending his value limited resources on listening to my phone call. I've played in the telephone game for too long to share with you, most of your conversations are very boring. You can believe me when I tell you they are focused on the bad guys.

With an estimated 10% of the worlds Islamic population wanting millions of Americans dead (which a lot of us don't seem to be able to grasp), if you are making or receiving a call from Kabul or Baghdad--the people we charge to PROTECT US have EVERY RIGHT to monitor them. Get over it!

Lets see,,, the next time a terrorist attack happens, and (god forbid) a relative gets hurt or killed. A simple act like intercepting a phone call from a known ter. group, would give us the warning we needed to stop it, and you goody two shoes libs got your way, and ended the practice. and we where helpless . How would you feel then. THE PRESIDENT TOOK AN OATH TO PROTECT REGARDLESS IF ITS GEORGE BUSH OR NOT, THAT'S THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO THE NATION SO GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ***
