you can try to change your display card properties try to set to 1024x768 resolution and 24bit or true color.

In Desktop right click and go to properties

then Settings in that go to screen resolution in that slide the slider to 1024x768pixels and color quality you can set 24bit or 32bit or true color after that click apply.

even though you are not able to set you can try to install the proper display driver for your computer.

Hi dear!
I read your question and think that get your mean.
It seams that your web cam has an ultra resolution and your graphical card dose not support it. more than this, you can not send and resieve graphical data more than a range of resolution. if your web cam's socket is composit(composit sockets can be used on TV s to line in and line out data, like sound and graphic. They are coloured like: Red,White,Yellow or Black) or If it is I-Link(IEEE-1394-fire wire-) you are obliged to change your cam or use the USB socket if owns.
If the socket is USB, your cam has a high resolution and can't be used as a web cam. so if can change your cam's resolution, do it. if not be cool and buy another or forget using web cam.
If any problems leave me a message.
Be succeeded every time in life

Hi. When you follow the directions above, click "Apply", not "OK". If your monitor does not support that resolution the image will be scrambled. After 15 seconds it will revert back to the original. Learned this the hard way!

right click on a blank space on your desktop and choose properties..

...choose display settings then set your screen resolution to 1024x768 or higher and the colors to 24 or 32 bit...
