Yup, that's all you have to do. Put the cursor over the little screens that indicate the internet is connected, and read the information that pops up.

Hovering above the connection icon usually brings up *connected, 100.0Mbps* or something similar, if not then right click the icon and choose status.

I usually scroll and hover my mouse over the little computer at the corner that is receiving a signal. I use wireless, so it may be different for you. Also, if it is hooked, try the little LAN icon, too.

"Connected at 10 or 100Mbps" is not the speed of your internet, its the physical speed of the cable.
To find the speed of your internet please visit a DSL speed testing website.
