Windows XP and above have a built in solution called perfMon.exe (Performance Monitor)

You can add elements to track, - such as total bytes sent/received or by per second for a device like your network card.

contact your isp, if you re using DSL internet. They must have any application, thorugh which you can check the daily bandwidth usage.
