It depends on what field/career you plan on entering. For example, someone who studies Economics and wants to enter investment banking will have a greater network and opportunities at Yale compared to what they'll have at Toledo. Someone who studies Engineering doesn't need to worry too much about that, as long as they get into a good state or private university -- most Engineering programs "weed out" weaker students, so the ones who graduate as an Engineer major are generally brilliant enough to land a decent job in engineering. As for your teacher: maybe he just wants to teach at a bad school to offer kids what he's learned and improve the curriculum.

He makes billions and he gives half of it away O.o Yeah well what can you expect, he has too much money.
Anyways, he was really good at math. And probably his greatest achievement was the GUI (Graphical User Interface). He couldn't have gotten any further without good ol' math.
