My sister wanted to borrow a top of mine tonight. I said i would think about it . Here are my reasons i want to know if they are rational:
1. She would never lend me a top of hers.
2. She once took a top without asking, which i would be shot for doing if i did that to her
3. I knew she was being nice to me all day for the sake of the top and i felt like she was buttering me up.
I know its just a top but this situation in our house throws our whole dynamic out of whack.
In then end i said no and she argued with me. Then an hour later i said to her look you can borrow the top i just wanted to make you understand that you need to respect me and my things. Dont call this petty because you dont understand our relationship. i didnt have a problem with her wearing the top i just have a problem with her behaviour.

You were right to share. One of these days petty differences like this will seem silly to you. My oldest son died 2 years ago leaving his younger brother in shock and grief. Now he like me, regrets the fights and the petty stuff we argued about. Love your sister as if this was her last day on earth. Your reward is in heaven if not here. riverman457

Maybe you should come with an agreement with her, if she wants to borrow something from you, she will have to lend you something in return?

Don't give in to her by lending her the top (although she can take it herself without asking), you know it won't improve the relationship. But I thought if things get worst... She won't be nice and ask next time.

Give her a condition... or a trade. Give her your top for something else, like let her do some of your chores or lend you one of her tops or something.

I have a sister who's like that, now we're like in business. She gives me something else that I want if she needs anything of mine.

Although make sure that if she takes any of your things without your permission again you'll blow her room in a million tiny pieces.

This girl is a manipulator.
Put your foot down.
Say, "NO!", once and see what happens.
WW III !
Tell her to ask you plain and straightforward if she wants anything.
Enough of the "nice all day" just to get something from you.

I think you are very brave for speaking up. And I think you did the right thing. She's your sister but that doesn't give her any rights to climb all over your head. Bravo!! You go, girl!!
