I totally agree with you...
that is not a Bowling action..more a throwing action.
THE ICC have taken J.Botha from South africa out of the team for a lesser type throwing action...
I think one should write to the ICC and ask them directly...
Otherwise every Tom, **** or Harry will go and bowl...and its not bowling.

Actually, most people confuse bowling and throwing. A ball is considered as 'bowled' if the bowler releases the ball however under one condition - the angle the elbow makes with the upper arm should not exceed by 15 degrees for pacers and 10 degrees for spinners at the time of release. You can even put an under arm delivery in cricket (but you might be clobbered for a six). The angle that the total hand makes with the body is not relavant. So, Malinga is not throwing

No, I dont agree with all those answers.

He have a 100% legal action, there is nothing like that, but thats also true that his action looks unusual, but he is not throwing the ball.

He is a unique talent, many experts have agreed. There is also a name given to this action, u must have heard "round arm action".

The rule acc. to the ICC for the bowlers is that they cannot bend their arm more than 15 degrees (previously it was 10 Degrees, later on it was increased by 5 degress around 2 yrs ago). If a bowler is bending his arm within 15 Deg. then their isnt any problem with the action doesnt matter how you bowl. You may bowl like malinga with round arm action, but you should not bend your arm more than 15 degrees.

ICC have its team which looks upon the bowling action of all the bowlers of all cricketting nations and they havnt found anything in his bowling which is violating the ICC rules. His bowling is absolutely OK.

Okay. Malinga is bowling. If you see closely, when he stretches out his arm, then when he throws the ball on the ground, it looks like he is just throwing, but he is actually bowling. He is bowling. Not throwing.

i totally agree with sahiddd's answer because if he was throwing the ball then he wont be accepted in Srilankan team. so i think its his natural bowling action which to us looks like a throw.

Yup. I think he's just throwing the ball. He should be banned by the ICC.

If he didn't bowl, then he would be caught by ICC. So...wait for ICC's opinion
