On the body of all ink jet printers i have ever worked with,i have noticed interesting tree-like patterns formed by dust.how and why does this special pattern form which i could alternatively describe as a sun drawn as in a portrait.these patterns as i have noticed them, are generally round in overall shape.

A printer works from magnetic pulse code energy, each letter and color, all have a single unique magnetic signature telling the printer what to do. Dust is drawn to the magnetic field in the pattern that is working and collects on the plastic case that covers the magnetic field.

Well, without seeing it for myself I would have to say that is probably a combination of vibration and the magnetic fields that come out of all electronic equipment.

Since dust is so light it is easily moved around by magnetic fields, which is why a tv screen gets dusty so fast, and this is an important principle that is put to good use in a laser printer or copier for example.
