what is the difference between a fender strat and a squier strat?

In general, the Fender will be made more reliably, with better tonewood for the body and better pickups.

To cut price, you can buy a Squier for cheaper and replace the pickup s with better ones, such as Lace Sensors or some Seymour Duncans.

Squier is a second line off Fender like Epiphone is to Gibson. The guitars are more affordable as they use different materials and are made in Asia. They have a bad reputation although they tend to be great guitars. I have a Bullet 20th anniversary edition and its an awesome guitar to play
