I love hamsters!!! I have had many. Every kind there is except the dwarf hamsters. OK they are nocturnal animals which means that they come out to play when you are suppose to be sleeping! The majority of mine had woke up briefly between 6pm and 8pm, and got a drink and looked around and then went back to bed! But some might not get up. and if you are watching them at night and your hamster is doing this it is prolly cause it is old. My Pixy did this. She was my favorite. I had her for 4 years. and she did not eat or drink much at all towards the end of her life. and if your hamster is not old they usually live up to 3 years, then it prolly has a disease. if you can grab it be careful and look at its tail. if it looks wet or looks like diahrrea then it prolly has wettail. and you can pick up some medicine at your local petstore. You really can't do too much for a hamster vet wise. I mean you can take it to the vet but it usually is not that serious. The one time I bought 2 hamsters from the pet store and the one had wet tail and I had no clue. it died the next day. I was upset cause they would not refund my money. I did not know ...just make sure you look or ask to look before you buy it. ok hope I helped ya out some. good luck and hope everything works out for ya!

Hamsters do tend to sleep a lot, even during the night they will take periods of sleep. Is it leaving the food in its bowl? Hamsters tend to stash food away in a favourite corner or in their house - I have to throw a pile away every time I clean mine out. They don't eat large quantities of food as a rule and they tend to be picky eaters, so will take the tastier bits of food and leave the bits they find boring, especially with the hamster mix food!
If the food is completely untouched then you may have to take your hamster to a vet to get it checked out as there could be an underlying problem.

Like many have said he is prolly just eating at night. Hamsters are noctural. They love to eat/play at night. Dont wake ur hammie up cause they can be veryyyy cranky. Lol. Have u tried holding some food to his nose? (like sunflower seeds that seems to be their favorite)
Try putting little peices of carrots or apples in ur hands for the little guy. He will totally go for that. (if u do apples make sure there is no skin on it) Dont feed him too much though because they can get really bad diareah. (ewww!) Lol.
good luck and keep us updated!

you may separate the male and pregnant lady. The male might consume the infants and get the female pregnant returned precise after she provides delivery, that's nto stable. Hamsters choose breaks between litters and having too many infants might reason their existence to be shorter.

well it depends on how old the hamster is really, if its about 2 years old it could be preparing itself to die i know it sounds bad but its a ntaural thing for hamsters to do, if not maybe it has problem internally that you cant see so bet bet is to take it to the vets.

Are you watching him at night or during the day? IF you have an exercise wheel you would probably know they are most active at night.
