Way overrated. Most of the films that deserve recognition don't get any and the ones that do win aren't what the public loves.

Not much at all.
Pretty dresses and a lot of frippery diversion tactics for who knows what. I must say I enjoy when they do their Oscar movies from the past and those movie collages. There are always fun movies my parents then I loved.
Little substance. Much ado about nothing. But, much ado about beautiful clothing and amazing jewellery and such other fascinating ... garbage.
Very staged and contrived. The fact that they "went green" this year and applauded themselves for hours was not all that impressive.
An unreal evening for an unreal business that creates unreal images in the minds of its very real fans and victims.

Oscars is an annual prize distribution event where the best film celebrities of Hollywood assemble to be acknowledged by a jury of film experts in various walks of cinema to acknowledge them.

I like the Oscars because they give awards to the 'behind the scenes' people, like costumes, music, editing, screen play, sound, etc. There's alot of hard working people behind all those movies we watch. But, someone said about 'People's Choice' - I do not agree with that - that means someone like George Bush, for example, could win best actor. The SAG's (Screen Actors' Guild) awards are the best - actors voting for fellow actors.

As many awards that they have now, the OSCARS have lost abit of their glamor. I watch them for a while & switch to another channel. Feels like, "You've seen it once so it always the same. Just names are changed"

bunch of movie people patting each other on the back.....I think the most prestigeous awards would be like the people's choice awards. Why would you get an award for making a movie that 99% of the populace doesn't like?

They are highly impartial.
Why do you think not a single woman of hispanic origin has ever won best supporting actress.(like Salma Hayek or Penelope Cruz)
