4 weeks ago I made the stupid mistake of driving on a Sunday morning after heavy session of drinking the night before. I thought all of the alcohol would have been out of my system but I didn't finish drinking until 3am and I slept and then drove home at around 9am so it was very dumb. I was breathalysed and subsequently banned for 15 months. It was my 1st offence.
I have worked hard for a good career and have a BA(Hons) and an MBA and was due for an final interview for a consultancy position at a big 4 firm. I have had to postpone it but i can go in at the same stage at a later date and my current employer (a blue chip) has been excellent about it and allowed me to keep my job. I am 28 and the conviction won't be 'unspent' for 5 years so i will have to declare it until then and can't hire a car.
I am just wondering what Big 4 employers, e.g. Accenture, CapGemini, Ernst & Young etc think of a conviction like this and whether it would mean I am ineligible for employment with them

Accenture and CapGemini aren't Big 4 firms! The Big 4 are Ernst & Young, KPMG, Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
I used to work for KPMG. Basically it shouldn't be a problem as long as you state that you know you made a stupid mistake, you regret it, and you would never do anything like that again.
That said, it depends on whether driving is a necessary part of your job. Of course it wouldn't be in London; but if you're in another part of the country, you may be required to drive and visit clients and in this case, your conviction could be a problem.

Consultants usually have to travel, don't they? Lets say that's an unequivocal yes for the purposes of my argument. If your ability to do the job is impaired by your inability to drive it will most likely have an impact on your starting salary, so maybe you are putting yourself at a disadvantage by applying for a job whilst under suspension.
Which country are you in? I'm guessing UK. With most UK employers it won't necessarily make you ineligible for employment. I suppose it depends on the hiring manager. If the hiring manager has a problem with it, maybe it is better that you don't end up getting the job. If you are in the USA, you will have a more difficult time.
If your current employer is being supportive, maybe that tells you where your immediate future lies and, perhaps, your long-term future. Learning from mistakes is highly valued (not learning is frowned up on in even greater measure). Perhaps you can grow within your current employer. I suppose what I'm saying is don't rush anywhere. Maybe it was fate that you got banned.

That wasn't a smart thing you did. Someone with an education like yours- should have self control and should know that drinking and driving isn't worth the trouble it's caused. As you found out- late- that's it's better to stay on the straight and narrow path. If I were you, I would do everything to stay on the good side. Own up to what you did- go through whatever classes you need, and never stop striving to get what you want. Then, if you want to drink, stay at home and don't leave until you are sober. I feel so much better when I don't drink. Is your career worth the alcohol??

I cant say what they would say, I would think it depends on each individuals circumstance.
Yes, OK, its a serious offence but you never hurt anyone, you didnt commit murder or defrauded anyone out of millions.
You made a mistake and I'm 100% sure they have other drink drivers working for them.
Its always best to be upfront with the conviction to employers and explain the circumstances if you can. If you get found out later, after they have employed you it would be deemed much more serious.

I worked for a big six consulting company and they were clear about DWI and DUI convections. If we got them then we were out. The reason was it was impossible to rent a car and the client can be touchy about it. The company I worked for was not unlike others in they are very sensitive about what a client might think. I think you might be better off at the blue chip you are at now.
