I agree with Mrs. Noo and Vicky, and you'll be screw'n with the Leprechauns (this being St. Paddy's) not to mention a hookah smoking caterpillar. Try to think of those shrooms in a positive light, another one of natures beautiful little mysteries to be studied and enjoyed, especially if they happen to be edible. If you really must get rid of them, changing the Ph, as several have mentioned, does work. Mushrooms also hate magnesium so those of you with alkaline soil should use Epsom salts. Fairy rings grow from the inside of the circle out, so you only have to sprinkle Epsom salt around the outside of the circle. Did you know that some of the largest fairy rings grow at Stonehenge? They're thousands of feet across, thousands of years old and only visible from a plane. And you wanted to kill them. RScott

I was getting rings of them in my lawn. At times they would occasionally stall my gas lawnmower!
Out of curiosity I dug down into the center of some of these rings and discovered my lovely builder had cut down trees and left the stumps to rot about 12 to 18 inches below the surface!
Anyway, I would put a couple shovel fulls of lime on top and then covered them up with dirt. No more toadstools!
(Then I installed those poison termite stakes around my home, because of the stumps - which were showing signs of termite activity.)

Go down to your garden centre and ask for
" anti- fungal" liquid
Dilute according to makers instructions,
and spray or water, onto "fairy" ring
You may have to repeat this, a few times,
before the mushrooms / toadstools finally , move out .
It is no good ,digging them out ( that will ruin your lawn)
or even using a flame gun,
As this will spread the fungal spores even further ,
Good luck
