remember NOT ALL companies can give you a specific area for shoots.
The MOST MOST important thing is to first ask and look at the contract you are given. many make the mistake of signing straight away, be sure to check that the contract enables you to have the rights to reject assignments given to you (safer) , these contract rules varies in different agencies and agents, countries.
I really suggest you speak to someone who is already doing modelling in your circle of friends around your area. They are the ones who I think can really help you here.

yes you can choose to be a model in a specific area. there are models who do only commercials, and use only certain parts like their teeth and smile for toothpaste or hands for jewelries.
and then there are those who model on the catwalk alone.
some model bikinis only while others go for the more couture.
