ok when i was like 36 weeks i wanted my baby out so of course my baby had other plans well the day before it was my 40th week i was cleaning like crazy, and then i had sex. 5 hours later i was in labor. the orgasms will bring the contractions on and the sperm will start the labor. mind you we did this everynight though. I heard from other woman eating a while pineapple will help i never tried this myself. another thing she can do but she needs to be very very careful drink caster oil, shell be in the bathroom a lot but the worse case scenerio is that the baby will poop inside and that wont be a good thing. i knew a woman who did this at like 36 weeks and it worked the baby ended up being 5 pounds but he was healthy. as with the walking you are suppose to do until the contractions become regular tell your friend its understandable to want the baby out but when the baby is ready he/she will send something through the placenta and into the mother and this is when her body will set itself into labor. and i totally know how she feels, i hated the waiting game myself. or another thing she can try is having the doctor stripping her membranes i was almost going to get that done but my daughter came the day before i was going to go and get it done. some woman say itll work others says not. tell your friend shell experience the most true and unconditional love when that baby arrives, i never knew what love was until my son was born. and tell her good luck

When I was pregnant with my first my Obstetrics Specialist told me that sex only works if the mucus plug has already started to come away. He also very firmly warned against Castor Oil because it can cause huge problems... basically all Castor Oil does is gives you a shocking case of diarrohea which causes abdominal and uterine cramping and MAY bring on labour... but it can also send the baby into distress.
Find a recipe for Eggplant Parmigiana... I have a friend who swears by it and said she has used it to induce labour for all 4 of her pregnancies.
Nipple stimulation is supposed to be really good, but it has to be almost constant. From memory I think it was something like 3 minutes stimulation, 2 minutes rest repeated for 20 minutes then stop for 10... and keep going...
Otherwise, make plans. Unpack your hospital bag and organise to meet a girlfriend for coffee or lunch. That is what I did... I unpacked my hospital bag and organised to meet my sister for lunch and shopping... I went into labour that night and my baby was born 9 minutes after I was supposed to meet her the following day.
Good luck!

My son was born in April and ten days overdue. I was booked for induction. It was a lovely spring day and I decided I would do a bit of gardening as didnt think I would have time after baby born. I dug over the borders and that night went into labour. Not sure if coincidence or not and dont know if I should be recommending this or not but that what happened to me.

I found starting something that you couldn't leave like making and icing a cake, totally emptying a cupboard that you've been meaning to clear out for ages, sorting out all those photos etc. With mine though it was 1, washing the floor - on my hands and knees, 2, cutting out a skirt (dressmaking) & 3, stripping the beds and not putting the clean sheets on immediately.

Having sex is supposed to bring on labour, if not, there is apparently there is a chemical in pineapple that can bring on your contractions.
All the babies in my family have been premature so thats about the only information i can give i'm afraid... best of luck :)

I have three children and we went through this... These are a few things that people told us. When I asked the Dr. about this, he told me that he knew that sex could help speed things up. The only problem is... What over-due woman wants to have sex???

ha.. you can try all the old things that everyone will tell you, curries, sex, nipple twiddling... but if that baby ain't ready, it wont budge... how do i know.. well, 17 years ago, i was pregnant with our first(and only) baby, who was due 16th Aug, but lets just say, i actually gave birth 04th Sept!
i was taken in 5 days prior to his birth, and induced, but even that didn't do the trick, as he was comfy where he was..
unfortunately, he still spends too much time in a foetal position in bed!
good luck to your pal...

when my wife went over by a week and went into hospital, the doc came in and was going to induce her but she denied that as she wanted a natural birth with no or very little medical intervention so the doc took both me and my wife into a room and offered it to me on a plate......i couldn't believe i heard a doc telling me to have sex! and in a hospital! but anyway i did what the doc ordered and a few hrs later nature did what it was supposed to do!
