I was just of thought that this may help to ensure a path of devotion, limit straying from faith; and eliminate those of varied deviant vains from the genetic pool.

No, because the whole idea is to abstain by choice, not lack of ability. And child abusers who can't get an erection will use other inanimate objects to hurt kids... The only rational answer is to foster a healthier society in which people don't need to sublimate their sexuality into destructive paths. And by the by, "sterilization" would only make them infertile. I think you mean radical castration?

You have posed an interesting question. Personally, I would say Yes, sterilisation is a reasonably good idea considering so many have shown they can't abide by their vows. I'm sure alot of people would talk about personal rights and the rights to choose what it done to ones own body. If you join a vocation that requires celibacy than you choose to give up the ability to have sexual emotions. I guess though, people change jobs all the time and leaving the priesthood should be thought of in the same manner. If they are sterilised but change vocations, there could be problems then with searching for gratification that can't be had.

sterilization wouldn't prevent perverts from preying on kids. the urges come from the head not the body. and not all priests as perverts although too many are. there are also perverts attached to other religions. they just don't get the hype that catholic priests do. have spoken to people who were abused by baptist, church of nazarene etc.

no. priests should be able to marry.
the only reason they can't is because the church was mad that they had to pay for the priests children. thus during the reformation priests had to be celebate
and there is still a lot of misogyny
nothing to do with devotion

They should be willing to become eunuchs....If you are forsaking the worldly and devoting yourself to the priesthood it should be standard. BUT even at that---it wouldn't stop a perverted priest..

Wow so wrong direction. how about making it OK for priest to have partners? The stifiling of sexual desire is what got them to molest in the first place.

Your parents should have been sterilized. Why is this in the gay section?

No.
There is no reason to do so.
If you cannot accept that others serve your religion willingly, you have no faith.
