JESUS is ALIVE ......the tomb was and forever will be empty of Christ Jesus.
Pilate was merciful, and did NOT want to condemn Jesus to the cross, but he DID fear public uprising and so he did pretty much the same thing the Pharisee's and Chief priests did;;; in the name of power, and being in an exalted position, he let the crowds choose. They let the KNOWN murderer Barrabas go free, then Jesus was officially condemned by Pontius.
JESUS IS RISEN, and he is as real as the computer your sitting at right now. Jesus loves you; for what else could a person do to PROVE their love for your than to DIE IN YOUR PLACE' suffer punishment in your place!
Jesus is NOT dead,
you'll see
I just pray your not on the wrong side of the fence when HE comes back,
Trust and seek!

Pontious Pilate was just a man who happend to be a ruler that time.
as you said both died, but the difference is The "death" cannot hold Jesus in the grave.
To believe this you need not to be a genious but to become a Child. - A child?
I hope you will not understand this tooo.

Pilate was a governor. He had no message - just a responsibility to try and keep the peace.
Matthew 27:2
And when they had bound him, they led [him] away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

He was the person who had the ability to pardon Jesus and instead 'washed his hands of it' and let the people decide. The people chose Barabbas to pardon instead.
