Do you mean New York City or New York State?

I am unsure what you are asking here. New York City is the isle of Manhattan and it's boroughs. New York State in it's entirety is quite large. New York covers 54,475 sq miles (141,089 sq kilometers). In size, New York ranks 27th compared with the other 50 states. So New York State is a bit less than one half the size of England.

The entirety of England could fit within any of the states of California, Alaska or Texas though.

The size of the country of England is 130,365 square miles, with a population of 49,561,800 in 2000.

The size of the city of New York is 47,213 square miles, with a population of 19,254,630 in 2005.

So New York is smaller in area - it is just over a third of the size of England, with less than half the number of people.

New York is the Big Apple so I reckon you could fit the whole of England in the Upper East Side.
