I class anything you wouldnt tell your partner about as a form of cheating.Do people tell their partners they are flirting and texting others? If not then they obviously know its wrong.

The current obsession with 'being unfaithful' and 'cheating' must be the most destructive fashion ever to arise. It seems designed to do nothing but wreck lives and relationships, and destroy perfectly good relationships over pointless technicalities.
Sexual jealousy is an ancient instinct that arose in the jungle in order to block partners from dividing their loyalties and resources over extraneous children. Rats and birds do it.
Whatever the residual merits of such an emotional response in an age with perfect contraception and paternity tests, at least there's some logic in not wanting your partner impregnating, or impregnated by, other people.
But today's idiotic fashion goes so ludicrously beyond that that it's hard to find any logic in it at all. We seem to have reached a situation where people are desperate to find the slightest evidence of any interaction by their partner with another of the appropriate sex - and the 'punishment' for this is the destruction of the relationship!
Do people in these distorted relationships even *like* each other? Is this all some monstrous negative-sum game in which the *object* is to find some excuse to break up? What kind of deranged ego do you have to have in order to insist that your partner never interact with anybody, ever again?
Most absurd of all is that it's been established beyond doubt that *everybody* 'cheats'. As high as 25% of the children born aren't related to the fathers who claim them. So all this paranoia and snooping is clearly not working very well - at least on women.
Well, maybe all these lunatics deserve each other.

Its difficult, I suppose if you turn it around slightly. For example if I saw flirty messages on my hubby's phone, I may think that theres some thing's up. I wouldn't be too happy about it!!!
So yes I would class it in a way, because I would want to know the reason behind it.
However everyone flirts, in writing it's more of a statement if you get what I mean. It depends on what has been said.

EVERYBODY flirts!
no matter if you are in a relationship or not
physical touching is being unfaithful, not flirting
id say if somebody messaging somebody else online flirting your close to being unfaithful, but if its just a bit of harmless fun and your never gonna meet the guy then so what!!
not in my opinion anyways, i have not cheated on my boyfriend until i have touched another guy.

It depends on the person's definition of unfaithful. Different people have different views. As for me, yes it would be unfaithful. If it's not something you would want to share with your partner then you shouldn't be doing it.

When you become consumed by it, then it is most definately being unfaithful
It's one thing to take it as a joke,
when you start looking forward to it or for it.
Then, the seeds of unfaithfulness are being planted and the crop will grow the more you feed it

Everything has a start, first you think that a small text won't do harm, but then you might get more and more... finally finding yourself in a bed of other guy proves that there's only a small step from "innocent messaging" to a real cheating.

In my opinion, flirting on line with someone is a form of betrayal. I wouldn't call it cheating but it would still upset me. If you are secure in your relationship, you shouldn't feel the need to flirt with someone. Either way, a person is still feeling unfulfilled in a relationship if they feel the need to flirt.

Lean me not into temptation...When people start those friendly little chats and flirtations, they may not admit it to them selves but they know where they can lead. Something isn't happening in there life so there looking for it.God says if you think, you are as guilty as having done it....The best way to stay faithful is to start a little flirt --chatty thing on line with hubby..Who knows, you both may find it very interesting...

I don't feel as though it's being unfaithful, as long as it's not sexual flirting. That could lead to meeting up.
